Blake Shelton seems to be working on new music. According to Nashville keyboard player Gordon Mote, Shelton is working on a Christmas album. "Had a great day working on a new @BlakeShelton Christmas album," Mote tweeted on Wednesday. "He's pretty fantastic!"

The ever-joking Shelton also tweeted about the in-demand studio musician. "Y'all meet my hair stylist @GordonMote!!! Follow the man!!!"

Mote has shared the stage with some of Nashville's top stars, like Martina McBride, Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts. According to his website, he's an eight-time Piano/Keyboard Player of the Year nominee at the ACM Awards, winning the award in 2009 and 2011.

A Christmas album would be a first from Shelton. His last studio offering was the well-received 'Red River Blue,' released in July of 2011. Shelton hasn't shared details on the new project and his label Warner Nashville remained tight-lipped on specifics, so it's unclear if he'll be cutting an album of originals or covers and whether any others -- like wife Miranda Lambert -- will appear. It seems certain, however, than his unique sense of humor will pop up somewhere on the album, and there will probably be a song about drinking.
