Merry Christmas.

Attention everyone: we now officially have T-minus eight days until Christmas, and preparation time is running out faster than we can shove holiday cookies in our mouths. We still have to buy last-minute presents, dig out those stockings from the back of our closets and make time for that awful office party.

With the Christmas countdown officially at 11 days, we can hardly contain our excitement for presents and Santa and grandma's awesome cookies. All this holiday hype has got us thinking, though: Do you honestly know the true story of Christmas?

Here's a little video to get you into the spirit of Christmas, if you're kind of trampy. Nate, Caitlin and Stuart set up shop on the campus of Brigham Young University to trick as many people as possible into kissing them by using a sprig of renegade mistletoe that drops down at a moment's notice. Ghastly little children and zombie corpses in elevators aren't the only things petrifying people around the world this holiday season. It looks like even Frosty himself is getting in on the act to wish us all a very happy (and spooky) holiday.

The Christmas season is the happiest time of year. We get to spend extra time with our family and friends, and there are endless supplies of cookies. While these few weeks are filled with tons of cheer, it's also the sappiest time of year, especially in the good ol' USA. It's the ideal time for overseas military men to surprise their loved ones, and of course, create tearjerker alert YouTube video

Since I was a child, the only thing I ever wanted to do was write a great Christmas song, a song that would take its place next to all the holiday classics on the radio. As happens with most childhood fantasies, though, real life interrupted and set me on the road to practicality. I grew up in New York City, after all, not an easy place to make it, let alone dream.
