Survivor Score Christmas Hit, Reunite With Former Lead Singer
‘80s rockers Survivor are feeling the spirit as their holiday tune ‘Christmas Is Here’ moves up the Mediabase Christmas charts, currently standing as the No. 6 most added holiday song at radio.
The success of ‘Christmas Is Here’ is the second piece of recent happy news for the Chicago-based group. They also recently announced a reunion with former frontman Jimi Jamison, who sang lead vocals on most of their best-known hits during the 1980s including ‘High On You’ and the power ballad ‘The Search Is Over.’
Jamison returns to Survivor five years after departing from the band to focus on his solo career. With him back at the helm, the group will be working on a new album that is planned for release in 2012. The record will be their first release since ‘Reach,’ the band’s first set of new material in 18 years, was released in 2006.
Survivor guitarist and founding member Frankie Sullivan says “I’m excited to have Jimi back up front singing the hits, and giving the fans what they want.” Jamison was similarly enthused about his return to the band, saying, "It feels great to be back with Frankie and the band, singing the songs that the fans love.”
Their signature song 'Eye Of The Tiger,' which spent seven weeks at No. 1 and eventually earned the band a Grammy Award, recently topped 2.5 million downloads worldwide.
