Marshall Tucker Band Releases New Holiday Album ‘Carolina Christmas’

The Marshall Tucker Band wants their fans to get in the Christmas spirit! The legendary rockers have released their new holiday-infused album, 'Carolina Christmas.'

Rather than just an album of Christmas classics, the band has also included a handful of originals that will be sure to put a smile on your face as you decorate your tree this year!

"It’s got a song on here that I know a lot of people will appreciate," MTB's frontman, Doug Gray, tells Ultimate Classic Rock with a grin.

"'My Christmas in Custody' [is a song] that my drummer sings, and he’s not a singer [laughs]! He was arrested, and he’s been sober now for seven years, so I’m really happy about that. I let him sing that song because he wrote it."

The album does include tunes that the whole family will be familiar with, including 'White Christmas,' 'Silent Night,' 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' and 'Jingle Bells,' which turned into a family affair.

"I got all the families of everybody in the band to sing on 'Jingle Bells,'" says Gray. "They were all standing there, and we put a couple of mics on and they all started singing 'jingle bells, jingle bells' … it sounds funny! It’s kind of like the guy at the Salvation Army having a backup band … that’s what it sounds like [laughs]!"

The final track on the album is ''Twas the Night Before Christmas,' which is narrated by Gray himself.

"Everybody loves traditional Christmas and holiday albums and stuff like that, but this was not meant to be one of those," Gray explains. "This was meant to throw it on and get a laugh out of it and have some fun. That’s why it turned out the way it did. It sounds pretty good, and I think a lot of people will appreciate it."
